This fan-fiction on Kate, Mark and Declan is an interesting read. The author has used first person narrative to describe the different viewpoints of Kate, Mark, Declan, and Donna. It is interesting in the way that the author has portrayed different emotions between the characters of Kate and Mark as well as Kate and Declan. I like the way the author has described Kate through Mark's point of view. He describes her with such admiration, it's clear to see that he has real feelings for her. I also like the way Mark feels a sense of protection over Kate and looking out for her best interests when it comes to relationships, especially with her ex boyfriend Declan. He sounds like a true gentleman if you ask me.
Kate's point of view shows that she is smitten with Mark, you can feel the chemistry immediately between them from the way they describe each other and there are glimmers of hope that they will eventually be together. However I would say that it's a bit rushed to think they are falling in love with each other when they have only been on one date?
Declan's view point is much more of a negative approach towards Mark. However through reading his view point you understand that he only wants the best for Kate and that he has learnt from his mistakes. His mistake being that he kissed another girl when they were on a 'break'. He also describes her in such admiration such as ...'she makes my stomach feel all knotted up..'. This shows how in love he was with her and that he is still continuing to love her. However I don't understand the reference of mentioning Bridget, it just shows that Kate will forever be second best.
Donna's view point says alot about who Donna is as a person. The way she approaches situations in the happy-go-lucky way shows the reader the kind of personality she portrays. Examples such as the 'Oh My Goodness'..is a typical line of what she would usually say. I think the author has successfully portrayed Donna as how she originally is on-screen.
Overall this fan-fic shows good view points of the different characters. Portraying them in the first person narrative gives the chance for the reader to take the same journey as the author did when he/she was writing this fan-fiction
